Sugar and spice . . . not everyone's nice. Fresh from being betrayed by one of her closest friends, new celebrity Jane Roberts has learned a few lessons. Most important: know who to trust. And in Hollywood, that list is short. Determined to get control of her life, Jane swears off boys and all the trouble they bring. But when high school sweetheart Caleb and L.A. crush Braden show up, both acting sweeter than ever, Jane has a hard time remembering her no-boys rule. And for the first time Jane’s best friend, Scarlett, has only one guy on her mind: her new boyfriend, Liam. But being on a hit reality show means hanging out with other guys on-camera, and Liam isn’t too happy with pretending to play a bit part in her love life. Just when everything feels out of control, Jane makes a discovery that changes everyone’s definition of “reality” forever. In television star Lauren Conrad’s L.A. Candy series, the drama is pure dishy fun.

An American Editor said: "Outstanding - compares well to any P.D. James novel." Crimetime.co.uk called it: "An unsettling read with echoes of Mo Hayder." John R.L said: "Though they may not admit it, readers are fascinated by monsters...This isn't a book for the squeamish. But if you like good characterization, novel ideas, fast-paced action and a satisfying resolution, you'll want to read this one." SUGAR & SPICE is the UK #1 best-selling, controversial crime thriller the agents called "the last taboo". The 11th best-selling ebook in the UK of 2011. (ref: futurebook.net) Based on research and details from the case of notorious murderer, Robert Black and his capture, Sugar & Spice was deemed "Too controversial for the British market." Over a quarter of a million readers thought otherwise. ~ Would you trust a convicted sex offender to help you find your daughter's killer? Claire did... Inspired by a news story of a man who begged a Judge to give him a longer sentence, because he knew he would harm again if released without treatment, Sugar & Spice is meticulously researched, asking the questions society prefers not to have answered. At once disquieting and challenging, Sugar & Spice is car-crash reading. Be warned: In Sugar & Spice not all things are nice... Everyone has demons. What do you do when you can't keep them quiet any longer?

Consumers in eighteenth-century England were firmly embedded in an expanding world of goods, one that incorporated a range of novel foods (tobacco, chocolate, coffee, and tea) and new supplies of more established commodities, including sugar, spices, and dried fruits. Much has been written about the attraction of these goods, which went from being novelties or expensive luxuries in the mid-seventeenth century to central elements of the British diet a century or so later. They have been linked to the rise of Britain as a commercial and imperial power, whilst their consumption is seen as transforming many aspects of British society and culture, from mealtimes to gender identity. Despite this huge significance to ideas of consumer change, we know remarkably little about the everyday processes through which groceries were sold, bought, and consumed. In tracing the lines of supply that carried groceries from merchants to consumers, Sugar and Spice reveals not only how changes in retailing and shopping were central to the broader transformation of consumption and consumer practices, but also questions established ideas about the motivations underpinning consumer choices. It demonstrates the dynamic nature of eighteenth-century retailing; the importance of advertisements in promoting sales and shaping consumer perceptions, and the role of groceries in making shopping an everyday activity. At the same time, it shows how both retailers and their customers were influenced by the practicalities and pleasures of consumption. They were active agents in consumer change, shaping their own practices rather than caught up in a single socially-inclusive cultural project such as politeness or respectability.
